I went to Saudi for trophies, not money – Mendy
Chelsea left-back Benjamin Mendy has insisted that his move to Saudi club Al-Nassr was motivated by his desire to win trophies rather than money.
Mendy, who joined Al-Nassr in a shock transfer last year, said in an interview that he made the move because he wanted to be part of a team that was fighting for titles.
“I have always been ambitious and winning trophies is what drives me. When the opportunity came to join Al-Nassr, I saw it as a chance to be part of a team that had a winning mentality,” Mendy said.
The French defender has enjoyed a successful spell with Al-Nassr, helping the club to a league title and a domestic cup triumph within his first season at the club.
“The decision to move to Saudi Arabia was not about money for me. It was about challenging myself and pushing for success at a different level,” Mendy added.
Mendy’s performances with Al-Nassr have earned him praise from fans and pundits alike, with many touting him as one of the best left-backs in the world.
The 27-year-old has made it clear that he has no regrets about his move to Al-Nassr and is focused on winning more trophies with the club in the future.
“I am happy with my decision to come to Saudi Arabia. I have found a great club with a great group of players and staff. We are all working towards the same goal of winning more trophies,” Mendy said.
Mendy’s success at Al-Nassr has proven that sometimes, the pursuit of trophies can be just as rewarding as chasing big-money moves.
As Mendy continues to shine in Saudi Arabia, it is clear that his decision to prioritize trophies over money was the right one for his career.
